Zander Rice’s review published on Letterboxd:
Oh wow... this is genuinely REALLY good.
I stumbled upon this movie in a pack of 50 other horror movies that were compressed in terrible quality on one DVD. You got stuff on there like ‘Attack of the Giant Leeches’ so I thought this would be nothing too extraordinary. Boy was I wrong.
John Carradine stars as a murderous puppeteer, who strangles victims after he paints their portraits (cause he’s an artist too).
The lighting, the shots, the performances - all around great stuff that I didn’t expect from a little well known horror/crime/drama B-movie from the 40s.
