It’s not so much good or interesting as it is audacious that the band made everyone watch this in lieu of an opener at the show I went to. And I really respect that level of disrespect for my time tbh

Theory of Obscurity: A Film About the Residents 2015
Watched this in preparation for a show I'm going to soon, so I wouldn't be going in completely blind. I've never really listened to them much. Sadly it's an extremely pedestrian talking head doc made just a little more cringe by the joke of having guys who are obviously members of the mysterious anonymous band praise the band lol

What movie is everyone else watching here? I have a sneaking suspicion a lot of people are going to look back at this a lot less fondly in a few years. "Funny Because the Racism Is So Blatant" jokes, a meandering story that feels cringily autobiographical, and the conflict that acts as the engine for all this action is a "Will they? Won't they?" about pedophilia. Yuck.

The Last Laugh 1924
Holy Hell. That this film could weaponize irony, sweep you up in a spacey drunken dream, and ground your heart to dust without any title cards is just astonishing.
Murneau was a master. I don't really have anything to add to the conversation about this film. I'm just thoroughly impressed.
