The Kid

The Kid ★★★★

Dallas' The Majestic Theater today celebrated its centennial with a screening of a 100 year-old classic, Charlie Chaplin's The Kid, featuring live music from Denton composer, J. Paul Slavens. The show was magical, a lively audience laughing and cheering for American cinema and the venue that housed us. The sold out show was the punctuation of an event which owes a lot to the city and to the Dallas Black Dance Theater, who have been the main attraction of the restored Majestic for decades and still perform there to this day. They, The Majestic, The Texas Theatre and screenings of films like The Kid provide a strong foundation for the future for the arts in the city, and have been a complete godsend throughout this year. I may have cried! Good movie!
