Puss in Boots: The Last Wish

My favorite animated film of the year is Dreamwork’s Puss in Boots, or more commonly known as Peak in Boots, as it delivers peak animation, peak storytelling, and peak characters. Puss was always my favorite character from the Shrekverse, and giving him the Spiderverse treatment is the best thing they could have done for him. Seriously, this film is a stunning assault on the visual cortex. I love how the film blends Dreamwork’s typical 3D animation with gorgeous 2D, almost comic-like…

The humor is hit or miss, half of the time it’s chuckle-inducing, and other times…

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

So you’re telling me those dragons were acting?

In all seriousness, Shang-chi is one of the best films to come out of the MCU and certainly the best origin story to date. Shang-chi doesn’t feel like a film that follows the same cookie-cutter origin formula most Marvel films follow. In fact, I almost forgot I was watching a Marvel film at all. Instead, Shang-chi is an excellent martial arts flick with rich Chinese culture and stunning visuals.
