I’m not sure that everything in this movie makes sense. The accents are all over the map. It just screams “too many cooks in the kitchen” and there are about three dozen too many themes. In many ways, it’s one of Scorsese’s sloppiest movies.

But it might also be one of the most rewatchable. Man, is this movie FUN. Scenery-chewing, big swinging egos and a hundred hilarious lines. Batshit Wahlberg and deathly serious Leo. This movie has everything you could…

It’s probably been around 20 years since I last watched this movie and the more things change, the more they stay the same. Instead of arguing in a parking lot, we now argue on Twitter. People are unhappy all the time and don’t really know what to do about it.

But in all seriousness, I was around 12 or 13 when SUBURBIA came out and this, along with Kevin Smith’s first two films, were sort of an aspirational slacker ideal…

If you haven’t seen this movie, you should. I think it’s something pretty special and rewatching it had me super emotional all over again.

Not perfect by any means but turn off your brain, relax and let all of the badass glory wash over you.

Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson have great chemistry. There are some laughs and the story keeps you engaged enough to have a good time, but it’s the action that makes THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT memorable. The ending sequence is thoroughly entertaining and Davis just owns the screen. Way more fun than I was anticipating!

If you lose yourself in the details, you may never come up for air. And if that’s how you want to experience movies like PROMETHEUS, then by all means, go for it. But personally, when dealing with a film like this, it feels like wasted time. For me, it’s just a blast to watch.

Yes, trying to make it all fit and make it all make sense - especially in the context of the ALIEN mythology - can be headache-inducing.…

There’s still some nostalgia here, but the jokes just do not hold up at all.

I remember being terrified of the chestburster parody when I was a kid, having not yet seen ALIEN. That segment still kind of works, but a lot of this film just doesn’t.
