    It's been said that Stanley Kubrick originally sought to make Strangelove a serious thriller but as he started working on it,he found the whole situation so absurd and bizzare that he had the idea to turn it into a satirical comedy.And truth be told,since I consider Strangelove to have one of the cleverest screenplays out there,I wasn't expecting much from Lumet's much more faithful 'Fail Safe' adaptation which coincidentally came out on the same year.
