The 80’s revitalization trend at its lowest point yet. It’s abysmally boring - dull characters are injected with all the heart and soul of an AI-generated Joss Whedon script, ogling at relics and specters of Ghostbuters’ past like they’re in a novelty museum. This sort of Spielberg-esque wonder seen recently in films like The Force Awakens fits particularly unwell here. Star Wars at least has some sort of built-in mythology - this tries to build one on a middling 80’s comedy vehicle for SNL…

An extremely compelling and horrific tragidramedy (new genre?) with some amazing performances. It starts off pretty hilarious, but gets darker and darker (literally and figuratively) to a point of really crushing nihilism. The cinematography here is some of the most inventive I’ve seen in recent memory, with the camera choosing to focus on this rundown environment while keeping the characters at arm’s length, almost like you’re on the outside looking in at everything falling to pieces. It’s a lot, and definitely won’t be for everyone, but something about it really hit close to home for me.

You’ve just eaten a big bag of Lay’s potato chips. The bag takes up so much space that is filled with such little substance, and after eating it, you feel indifferent. You just ate a big bag of potato chips. Congrats. Do you get much out of it? Not really, but your hunger is put at bay for a decent amount of time. Will you eat it again anytime soon? Probably not. You have a greater chance of eating something…
