The Social Network

The Social Network ★★★★

Man this screenplay is good. Acclaimed screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, A Few Good Men (1992) and The West Wing (1999-2006), sets yet another standard in legal based storytelling with The Social Network (2010) a film about the creation of the social media giant Facebook. Sorkin’s extremely well constructed story includes long stints of techie based dialogue that literally propels you into the world of Silicon Valley itself. He is also a very witty writer, something I feel goes unrecognised at times, but is proven none more so than in this movie.

Every single performance in The Social Network is of the highest order as director David Fincher breathes life into Sorkin’s intellectual and highly addictive script. Using flashback and flash-forward style storytelling Fincher not only shines a light on the highly complex world of algorithms and code writing, he also shows the dirty side of business and how relationships can be destroyed in an effort to get to the top.
