Carnival of Souls 1962
Pretty interesting film that was honestly nothing that I anticipated. Loved the psychological route taken and that vintage horror feel to it all. Definitely thought it was very spooky, very eerie, and it was very much my type of thing.

This is my introduction to Sofia Coppola’s work, and all I can say is I’m definitely invested in her talents. This film, although appearing dreamy and mesmerising, withheld so many dark and depressing layers, which I thought was done with immense thought. The entire aesthetic actually was probably my favourite part, as it just perfectly captured the emotions and the sheer melancholia of the plot. Alien 1979
Brilliantly terrifying and thrilling in every way possible. It’s a mysterious space story full of, as suggested by the title, aliens. I mean what’s there not to love. However, what I love most is I think it’s pacing is incredibly done. It is so well crafted in that sense and makes for such a tense experience, one that just keeps you on the edge at all times. I also really love how little we are given in terms of context. It makes for an even more mysterious and creepy setting, one that relies more on the horror, rather than the sci-fi. It’s honestly perfect.
