    Bratz Kidz: Sleep-Over Adventure

    ★★★★★

In the wraparound story of this underrated horror anthology, the Bratz join their new friend Ginger at her house for a sleepover. When it’s time for bed, they all get in their sleeping bags, and Ginger (who has never had a sleepover before) wants to go to sleep, but the Bratz want to tell spooky stories. So they proceed to torture Ginger with five scary stories that she repeatedly states she does not want to hear. Three of them take…

I am very saddened and disappointed by the negative response this has gotten from people I respect or consider friends on Letterboxd. Like, what’s going on guys? Are you ok? It’s not even a lot of people because most haven’t seen this, but I just hate when it’s hard to find fair reviews of movies like this. And by “like this”, I mean masterpieces. Bratz is hilarious, strange, bright, sweet, unique, and full of energy. It tells a great story…

    Road Trip Playlist: New Mexico

Might pair well with Fight for Your Life for a lazy weekend afternoon of feel-bad racial tension exploitation. Fucking brutal to watch what Johnny and his grandfather regularly go through in a small racist town before things really start going too far and Johnny snaps and kills everyone. The kills are pretty good, and it’s fun that Johnny seems like he’s enjoying himself. The main baddie survives, which was frustrating, but maybe that’s the point. It co-stars Adam Chandler from All My Children, and he was great. Nice to see him!

    Road Trip Playlist: Oklahoma

Egon Spengler’s daughter and grandkids inherit his farm in Oklahoma, and soon ghosts start busting out around town. Mostly pretty endearing, with a few laughs. As I’ve stated before, I like fan service, which this certainly has in abundance, though I’m not even the hugest devotee of the original films. By the end of this, it’s just straight up copying the original, which was a bit disappointing. But when actor-I’ve-liked-since-Freeway Bokeem Woodbine pauses and steps into…

The thing Brooke Adams does with her eyes in this movie might be my favorite thing anyone has done in any movie.
