Perfect music, perfect sounds, perfect lights, perfect fog, perfect young Ian McKellen, perfect old Ian McKellen, perfect indistinct plot, perfect budget demon, perfect 3.5 star film.
Of course it was time to watch this again. Idr if I've seen this twice before or just once, but either way it hasn't been since I was in high school. It hasn't been since my transition or since Lana was public about hers. I read all the various articles reading this film as a trans text, and I was like "Yeah, that seems right, that checks out," but I never went back and rewatched for myself, I think because…
Felt like it had less clarity of purpose than Gremlins 1, but some of those jokes were just killer (especially when they were... More than just pop culture references). And this time Robert Picardo was there in addition to the cop from DS9 double episode Past Tense!
What if I make pointing out Star Trek actors my new Letterboxd review shtick
Oh yeah also in that Tarkovsky film I watched last night there was an appearance by the Gorn from TOS episode 19!
What if I make lies my new Letterboxd review shtick
A film full of Hey, It's That Guys, starring the greatest Hey, It's That Guy but also directed by one of my personal favourite Hey, It's That Guys. As a Total Nerd, I was extra delighted when I saw James Darren/Vic Fontaine, which felt like it made a whole lot of sense when I looked up the credits and saw Hey, It's That Producer.
