    - really great 2-part instalment of the series!
    - i think the acting helps set this one apart
    - Tennison has an entirely new team, as she's now with a different police force -- not sure how realistic that is, but it doesn't matter

This is a wonderful film, deserving of its place on the Sight & Sound Top 250 (tied with several other films at #235). Plenty of plot in this one, a surprisingly strong love story, great performance from Soumitra Chatterjee, beautiful photography, the imagery, the editing; and the appearance of a little boy near the film's end is reminiscent of the beginnings of this trilogy. I'm sorry it is only a trilogy -- i'd love to know what happens next. I guess i'm a fan of Satyajit Ray, as i suspect everyone is who has seen these films.
