Portrait of a Lady on Fire

Portrait of a Lady on Fire ★★★★½

Portrait de la jeune fille en feu (Portrait of a Lady on Fire) is beautifully shot. Most scenes look like they could have been taken straight out of a P. S Krøyer or Michael Ancher painting.

The pacing is on point. The film flows gently like soft brush strokes on a canvas.

At times Portrait de la jeune fille en feu reminds me of Persona (1966) because of the chemistry between the two main characters and subject matter.

The sound design does an excellent job of revealing the characters' state of mind and emotions.

"When you're observing me, who do you think I'm observing?"
