Judas and the Black Messiah

Judas and the Black Messiah ★★½

Powerful story, but at times this film felt like it didn’t know what story it wanted to tell. It could have been a biopic about Fred Hampton, or it could’ve been a crime thriller will Bill O’Neill trapped between two worlds a la The Departed. Instead, the film tried to be both, and achieved neither. To use a cliche, this film was less than the sum of its parts.
