Whilst this film ends on an alright little thrill, for the most part this felt pretty wooden to me. I mean the characters are fine, not sure if it was my version or on all but the sound quality was not the best, Barry Fitzgerald's voice at times becoming fainter and fainter. The story itself whilst not engrossing me wasn't too bad, but the initial investigation scenes just straight bored me. Like I said it does pick up, and crime and/or noir fans may possibly enjoy it a lot more, but for me I can't say I was quite invested enough.

A bunch of blokes are on the search for a corpse, but no, they aren't grabbing the nearest shovel and going grave robbing, no they're looking in the nearest morgue for the perfect dead man, for the perfect ruse. It mixes the real story with some...possibly less than true parts, but without them this would have been about 50 minutes long. The acting is all decent, the romance parts didn't really interest me much, but with enough relatively thrilling parts and just some interesting war office talk (and even some dancing), it felt like a pretty decent time spent.

I mean it's watchable, and the end isn't bad, but I can't say I was exactly interested in the plot. I mean yeah it has its fun moments, but I didn't care too much for the romance, and the mystery didn't interest me until it's fully revealed. The cast are all fine, good choice of David Thewlis as the villain, and it was nice to see Sherlock come in more on the sleuthing, but all in all, whilst it's certainly not a bad film, I can't say I was just quite invested enough.

I feel almost harsh giving this such a low mark, but honestly by the end, I realised I didn't care much for what had gone on. It just wasn't funny for me personally, and the whodunnit side of things was of no interest, and even though the end is okay, like the movie itself says, the audience only remember the last 20 minutes. Massively disappointed for this one, and whilst I know for sure some will enjoy it and have a fun time, alas for this gentleman, I wasn't invested.
