The writing and acting are so bad that you could take any scene of this and transplant it in another movie where people are watching fake movies and it wouldnt feel remotely out of place. And then then the drop hits - while the music cues (courtesy of a heavily rearranged Pixies tune) give away the twist, the pivot from trashy procedural/slasher into...well, James Wan does John Wick x Basket Case is a maniacal, wondrous sight to behold.

Pretty miraculous, not just in the clever editing but in how it is a film about tragedy and hardship and yet, you will be smiling for nearly the entire runtime.
The Purge series: "What if crime was legal one day a year, and then the rest of the year there was no crime?"
The Forever Purge: "Ok ok ok, and then. What if some people did crime on the days that it was illegal? Wouldn't that be terrible?"
