TIFF 2019 Movie #5

Sincere and heartfelt. This could easily have been just a cinematic adaptation of “boy isn’t Mr. Rogers the best?” but the script thankfully far surpasses that. Heller is great at making stories about flawed people, and the sadness of this one strikes a great balance with the cheer and kindness of Fred Rogers. Some of the more meta framing-device stuff really didn’t work for me, but otherwise I really liked it.
