Tom Hardy’s putting in some decent work here, but the surrounding movie is just painfully joyless and by-the-numbers. Terrible action, plot, pacing, effects, and half-hearted attempts at humor. It’s not nearly silly enough or self-serious enough to justify its semi-ironic “it’s funny!” reputation. I appreciate that it’s mercifully short.
