Hoo boy, it's a tough one to rate on the gay scale. I decided on 4 stars because while this movie is great and gay, it might not be everyone's kind of gay. I feel the movie explored the relationship coming together and (spoiler) falling apart more than the actual relationship itself. The majority of the relationship segment were extensive sex scenes, so if that's your thing, go for it.
It loses one gay star because of the unhappy ending for the main character, especially since we spend so long waiting to see her happy, only to see her smile in a few quick moments. Yes, this movie is honest and real, and tragic, but by the strict rules of my gay scale that I created based on nothing in particular, it has to have a happy ending to be a perfect gay movie. Us gays deserve it dammit! Not every gay movie has to be a damn tragedy.
