Thomas Vinterberg's Another Round is the perfect example that it is possible to show the slippery slope from casual drinking to alcohol dependency without being condescending or moralizing. It's a fantastic character study of four men who try to heal midlife crisis and professional insecurities by drinking a little bit everyday, but it never assumes an overly dramatic or patronizing tone. Gifted with Mads Mikkelsen's usual grace and talent, Another Round is a fun, engaging slice-of-life movie that proves our better selves are not necessarily in what we drink.
