Kong: Skull Island

Kong: Skull Island ★★★★

I was so overwhelmingly underwhelmed when I first saw this in theaters, so I had no room but to be impressed on a second watch. The lens flares were corny look-at-me-ish (I’m SORRY LARRY FONG), but they eventually stopped with that less than halfway through and I’d be lying if I didn’t say the rest resonated with my taste. With a GUILTY pleasure for their slow-mo and a proud one for the colorful jungle ambiance that matched Kong so well. I couldn’t help but SMILE seeing Eazy-E and Dr. Dre and Loki, Captain Marvel, and Nick Fury and The Wimpy Kid (nvm that’s not him) together in Apocalypse LATER *Android laughing emoji* The humor actually kinda grew on me, a lot. I felt like a KID the way I thought skull crawlers were awhsum, and all the other creatures. The environment created between skull island culture and the “animals” (?) that inhabit it was super-super scenic. Some of these shots really were beautiful. ______’s death scene after a failed grenade attack was surprisingly effective. In retrospect, this is the best the MonsterVerse has yet to offer. I LOVE KING KONG 🦍
