Excellent, excellent, excellent movie, likely John Ford’s best. Everyone from the main cast basically simply plays themselves here, not that you need anything more when you do the casting as well as they did here. The casting of the two leads in particular is unparalleled. Every scene with Lee Marvin has insane energy.
The movie might as well be called “America”, because, obviously, that’s in fact who *really* shot Liberty Valance. It is a movie about the creation of a world, and also of its very construction right from its inception.
Everything for The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.
