This film was a bit under cooked in my view. The main culprit is the woman character whose actions don't justify with my feelings. For example in one scene she is shown fainting and without any explanation she becomes a "star" in 5 years. Her husband is not given any scope at all.He was just a bastard who abandoned her to pursue a career. Chaplin and the kid share great chemistry and the parting scene was one of the most heartbreaking i have ever seen. Another weird thing was the fantasy sequence which looked out of sorts.Better character development was required.
