Scream ★★★★½

Scream achieves to perfectly balance out black comedy and violence of the slasher genre to satirize the clichés of the horror movie genre. I couldn’t have wished for a better cast to reunite some of my 90s favorites. The characters are aware of real-world horror films and openly discussed the clichés of them, which blends perfectly with the rest of the serious theme and never feels over the top.

All the dumb conventions of slasher films are pulled out of the shadows and get exposed for what they really are. Taking these horror clichés and turning them upside down makes Scream so good. Also Wes Craven mocking his own films? Consider this my new favorite slasher film in virtue of this rewatch.
