Scorpio Rising

Scorpio Rising ★★★★★

One of the great films about youth and its search for meaning in the jungle of violent symbols. When everything is a choice that is used to build your personality in capitalism, moral has very little place here, and only what really gives you sensations matter. Anger's aesthetic is addicting but it contains greater meaning in it that it asks us to see beyond its materialistic manifestations. Sure we get kicks out of the sensations the film manages to produce but we can't leave it at that. This really sums up the culture of the early 1960s U.S. of A better than any film I've ever seen methinks.
