The opening credits are genius. Holy shit, did Tobe Hooper know how to get under your skin.
I probably would’ve rated this higher, had the slasher looked more like Edwin Neal in Texas Chain Saw and not, like, a literal mutant, and if the two POVs had intersected more. Otherwise though, it’s fucking unnerving, deliciously sleazy and an underrated gem. Way better than Poltergeist — that’s for sure.
