Pretty silly but not as silly as Space Truckers. Great robot fights. Another worthy Stuart Gordon entry.

The wound that will not heal... implied something deeper, but if it was there I didn't see it. Most effective in terms of mood and feel, but unlike The Wind Journeys or Embrace of the Serpent this journey didn't take me anywhere quite as satisfying. Lots of unrealized tension and intrigue.

October (Ten Days that Shook the World)

This was not for the uninitiated, I would have benefited from revising the source material before this one. I had a rough idea of what was going on most of the time but there was a bewildering swarm of symbolism of which I could understand very little. Maybe that improves the experience, I enjoyed the suspense at what would happen next as well as the confusion of what was happening now. Amazingly choreographed scenes with huge numbers of extras. That bridge. Bicycles. Rapidly paced.

Joaquin doing an offbeat character in a violent arthouse film with a banging soundtrack that clocks in at a mere 90 minutes, so pretty much perfect.
