Judas and the Black Messiah

Judas and the Black Messiah ★★★★

This was a film I had no interest in seeing. I'm not typically a fan of biopics because sometimes they can be up their own ass. Simple bait for reward season. And while this film was "Oscar bate" so to say, it is not felt at all throughout the entire run of this story.

If you don't know the truth or the lives behind this true story, I would say it is best to then go into this blind. It is expertly acted by Daniel Kaluuya and LaKeith Stanfield ,the two leads who I think are some of the best talent working today. It's hard to picture either of them as supporting cast to the other. While their stories intersect and highly influence each other, it often feels like watching two separate stories that beautifully intertwine.

It would also be a crime to not mention the talent of Dominique Fishback who plays opposite of Daniel Kaluuya as his partner. Their on screen chemistry is incredible and adorable.

This film is heart wrenching and thrilling. I was completely floored by this one and it is unbelievably entertaining.
