Judas and the Black Messiah

Judas and the Black Messiah ★★½

Color me surprised that such a complex story of real-world political implications was seemingly converted into more paint-by-the-numbers, watered down awards bait. As is the norm with these sorts of films, the human tensions and nuanced motivations between idealism and compromise are merely translated as opaque representations of shapeless ideologues and sell-outs, serving either to placate zealots who don’t read enough history, or spoon-feed neoliberals, or both.
