Tyler Hicks’s review published on Letterboxd:
The characters in this movie are legitimately super underdeveloped but this movie is the definition of style over substance and I really dig it. It's amazingly shot with awesome action and even better set pieces, and while it is something albeit completely different for Kong, it still remains true to what the big ape is. And I swear to god that post-credits scene is fucking fantastic, in fact it might be one of my favorite secret endings of all time solely based off of the hype it instills.
Like I said before, I do think that the necessity for pure fun in film is just as important as the necessity for deeper meaning in it. While some movies connect you with the industry and even more so help you understand different qualities of life, the others stick to the core entertainment value the industry was born into and keep it alive and exciting. One cannot be without the other, and that's one of my favorite parts of this industry.
Movies are great.
