Carol is a quaint yet powerful romance film tackling the societal implications of being a lesbian in 1950s New York, whether openly or behind closed doors.
The romance plot itself was quite basic with the troubles and aftershocks that disrupt Blanchett’s life as a result of being with Rooney Mara; however, the performances by Blanchett and Mara are so phenomenal that it pushes Carol into the good territory of my rankings.
