Ty Knobloch’s review published on Letterboxd:
The One & Only Ivan was little too slow and child like for my usual taste of a Disney film, but was still a great film and an enjoyable experience.
The film fumbles a bit because of the pacing and the second half of the runtime. The first half of the film was great, but I found the second half less interesting. And the pacing was the only big issue with the film. Doesn't ruin the film, but just didn't work for me.
The cast of the film was great. Bryan Cranston as Mack knocks it out of the park again, the voice cast led by Sam Rockwell as Ivan, Angelina Jolie as Stella, Helen Mirren as Snickers, Brooklyn Prince as Ruby, Chaka Khan as Henrietta and the great Danny DeVito as Bob are all at the top of their games. The cast/voice cast was absolutely stupendous and this is one of the best casts assembled in a Disney+ movie so far in 2020.
All & all, although the film fumbles a bit in the second half and the pacing, I still thought The One & Only Ivan was a great film. And I recommend this film to anyone who loved the novel and to anyone who wants to watch a film while quarantined.
