Hilarious film, I still laugh at it. It’s also extremely quotable. Unlike some other films that I won’t name, this film makes fun of a group of people in a loving and touching way that even NASCAR fans love it. Probably because there is so much truth in there it’s undeniable. Farrell is probably at his comedic peak here. I have never been a big fan of the Anchorman movies, and as fun and cute Elf is, this is and…

fuck you eggers! you tricked me into watching SHAKESPEARE!!

sometimes you just need a good old violent revenge thriller with incestuous undertones. bonus points to the bird (?) thing that made some squawking noise that sounded like the brooklyn 99 theme and made me burst into laughter.

Absolutely stellar filmmaking. Stirring, evocative, and earnestly sentimental. It's a total cliche but they truly do not make movies like this anymore. Heady themes, big ideas, and the malevolent pearly whites of Jake Busey's gaping maw.

In order to understand The Secrets of Dumbledore, you have to understand the character of Albus Dumbledore. This is quintessential for the plot, but also for the pace and for the structure of the entire film. This third installment is calm, thoughtful, it’s withdrawn, you could almost say introverted! As all that, The Secrets of Dumbledore is the polar opposite of The Crimes of Grindelwald – as well as a perfect mirror of Albus Dumbledore as a character.

    Jude Law is phenomenal, and…

“[Signed] Can you sing it for me?”

Although it may often feel overly cliched, Sian Heder’s CODA really succeeds in building emotional foundations through its loveable characters that keep it feeling genuine even with its vaguely sitcom-ish vibe; playing its story relatively safe in a way that feels more comfortable and wholesome than conventional. Although the scenes focused on the slightly bland ‘singing’ storyline can feel a little too generic, the moments concerned with the family dynamics and the experiences…

The world went and got itself in a big damn hurry.

Blessed is Andy Dufresene, Jesus of Shawshank. For he suffered through 500 yards of his fellow man’s excrement to reach an absolving paradise; he conjured miracles in forms of alcohol, music, and literature, took on the corrupt leadership of his institution, served time for someone else’s sin, and even helped a dozen disciples earn their high school diplomas. And when he was gone, all that remained were the stories,…

    My boy’s wicked smart.

Always a pleasure to watch this film. It’s so hard to pick a favorite moment or distill just what it means to me into a review, but I’ll try:

When I was a kid, I was designated in school as “gifted,” which probably did more harm than good. I might’ve gained and retained certain information faster than some of my peers at the time, but I always felt behind where it counted. See, all this so-called…
