Troy Gauthier’s review published on Letterboxd:
In this movie we meet Shaun/Shang Chi played by Simu Liu who is living day by day in San Francisco with his friend Katy played by Awkwafina.
Then soon after he gets drawback into his past thanks to The Ten Rings Organization. Him and Katy travel back home where his father is power hungry with the Ten Rings and his sister Xialing played by Meng'er Zhang runs an underground fight club.
She is somewhat bitter after Shang left her with her father after their mother died. Eventually there is a showdown between father and son and family who friends save the world.
This movie has heartfelt character driven arcs with stellar action set pieces that are well choreographed and shot. This introduces the more magical and mystical elements of the
MCU. I had a few good laughs throughout it. The performances were solid and directed. I highly recommend that you watch it!!
