Wish this was more interesting. Mark Rylance should serve some jail time for that performance tho. He ate that shit.

    Very pretty very predictable

  • Edge of Tomorrow

    Edge of Tomorrow

Makes me oddly miss the 2014 blockbuster era. I know I was younger but I feel like they were just hitting different back then…

This has a great energy to it. Probably Cruise’s most underrated action role tbh. He gets to play a lot of different things here and it’s really fun to watch. Third act is a little on the forgettable side but still really good cool movie with nice fx!! (never understood the hate people have for the title I think it’s perfectly fine)

  • Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery

takes a while, but this is unsurprisingly pretty fun and probably just as clever/crafty as the first one. definitely a bit more convoluted and definitely tries harder for the laughs which weren’t landing for me a lot of the time but i’m sure i’ll watch however many more Rian decides to make because it’s so easy to tell how much passion he and everyone involved has for this stuff. also gotta point out that the costume design is crazy in these.…

    Lol very sweet

  • Ice Age

    Ice Age

Very solidly written and acted, if only half of the animation didn’t age like a carton of milk. Can’t believe I didn’t pick up on the gayness when I was 4

  • The Day After Tomorrow

    The Day After Tomorrow

Had faded memories of seeing bits of this as a kid. It’s mostly just random people sitting around TVs reacting to crazy shit on the news and then science people talking about storms and temperatures and shit. Gets old before it even starts. But then the disaster stuff happens and honestly Emmerich doesn’t handle it poorly at all on a technical level. Lots of snow and ice and flooded sets and crazy effects. Pretty cool if you’re like half asleep.

  • Aftersun

Achingly personal. Completely played me with its subtlety and ambiguity. Just know it’s gonna properly destroy me when I inevitably rewatch it all alone in my room some day. Best ending of the year.

  • The Banshees of Inisherin

    The Banshees of Inisherin

Far more devastating than I expected. McDonagh’s most mature work. Had a bit of a mythical, fable-like feel to it. Beautiful use of environment (both visually and thematically) and I really think Colin Farrell is one of the best doing it rn. So much nuance here. Like what a script.

    Last Night in Soho

Can tell Edgar had some fun playing with the style and genre but this one really didn’t work for me especially as it went on. Kinda expected it to be more clever.
