    i feel like this just might be one of those horror films where the wholesomeness and heartbreak power through the scares and the terrifying backstory where in most cases they serve as the background for the jump scares to happen, and that's pretty cool. can be genuinely scary at moments, and wholly believable and realistic (for a horror film??)
