• House of Gucci

    House of Gucci

The performances were all really good (yes even Jared Leto), but that’s pretty much all I liked about it. A seemingly interesting concept was somehow so uninteresting and drawn out, and I was just bored for most of the extremely long runtime. It felt like amateur directing with absolutely no style which is one thing I wasn’t expecting from this. Again the acting was really good, especially Pacino and Gaga, but with a cast like this and a director like Ridley, it should’ve been so much better or at least more entertaining if nothing else.

  • Licorice Pizza

    Licorice Pizza

After being insanely excited for this for the past year or so, I’m very happy to say that I have finally seen Licorice Pizza, and it lived up to all my crazy expectations. Coming of age/hangout movies are my favorite kind of movies so for one of my favorite directors to make a movie in the genre was just perfect for me. It was everything I was hoping for from him and more. Cooper Hoffman and Alana Haim are stars…

  • South Park: Post Covid

    South Park: Post Covid

Best South Park we’ve gotten in years. The thing they did with Cartman is one of the best things I’ve ever seen. Really hope they actually conclude this though, they probably could’ve just made it an extra 30-45 minutes and giving us an ending rather than end it on a cliffhanger, but I’m trusting Matt and Trey to do this justice. I’m liking the direction South Park is going after a few really rough seasons in a row.

  • Everybody Wants Some!!

    Everybody Wants Some!!

I’m writing a paper on Linklater for class, specifically on this, Dazed and Confused and Boyhood. I probably didn’t need to watch this for the 4th time in the last year and a half but it never hurts to rewatch a favorite. Another Linklater movie I consider perfect, only slightly less perfect than Dazed. Still don’t know why this one isn’t talked about more, one of the most fun movies ever and such a quick and easy sit. Will be rewatching Boyhood in the next few days.

  • Dazed and Confused

    Dazed and Confused

Perfect midnight movie with the boys and the perfect movie in general. Just outside my top 5 of all time, it really never gets old.

  • C'mon C'mon

    C'mon C'mon

Q&A with the director and kid, and an introduction from Joaquin Phoenix where he stood there with his mask on looking down without saying a word, in typical Joaquin Phoenix fashion. Very good movie.

  • Rocky IV

    Rocky IV

Theatrical cut is definitely better but getting to be one of the first people to see this version and seeing it in a theater full of fans was pretty awesome. This and Rocky 3 are the best Rocky movies.

  • Last Night in Soho

    Last Night in Soho

This was in my top 3 most anticipated of last year, and then when it got pushed it was in my top 3 most anticipated of this year. It had a lot to live up to for me personally and I’d say it lived up to the hype. This movie was fucking awesome, maybe the most fun I’ve had with a movie all year. The cinematography, soundtrack, and acting were all fantastic and I just loved the vibe of it.…

  • Dune

I missed one of the most important Dodger games of the year so I could watch this, so thank god it lived up to the hype lmao. The visuals and score are some of the best I’ve seen/heard in a long time, that IMAX experience just made it that much better. Watching this on HBO Max is a sin, it has to be seen on the big screen. As someone who’s never read the book, it was actually pretty easy…

  • Spider-Man

Spidey marathon with the boys part 1

Probably my favorite live action Spider-Man movie, love everything about this one.

  • On Dangerous Ground

    On Dangerous Ground

I didn’t like this at all for the first 40 minutes but then there was a complete shift in pretty much everything and it became great for the remaining 40.

  • Boulevard Nights

    Boulevard Nights

Man what a night at The New Beverly. Got to see a very underrated movie that I’d never even heard of, followed by a Q&A from one of the leads which was pretty awesome. And then they showed the Licorice Pizza trailer, which I’d been avoiding knowing I’d get to see it on the big screen tonight, and goddamn was it worth it. What a trailer. Movie of the year incoming.
