After being insanely excited for this for the past year or so, I’m very happy to say that I have finally seen Licorice Pizza, and it lived up to all my crazy expectations. Coming of age/hangout movies are my favorite kind of movies so for one of my favorite directors to make a movie in the genre was just perfect for me. It was everything I was hoping for from him and more. Cooper Hoffman and Alana Haim are stars…
If JJ Abrams wrote this it would’ve ended with Snape going to find Dumbledore’s dead body at the bottom of Hogwarts so he could revive him with some sort of potion. Right after Snape revives him, they’d go team up to face Voldemort together. Upon arriving Voldemort would yell “I am all the death eaters”, to which Dumbledore would reply “And I, I am all the wizards”. After this they would defeat Voldemort end with a nice kiss next to his dead body.
The performances were all really good (yes even Jared Leto), but that’s pretty much all I liked about it. A seemingly interesting concept was somehow so uninteresting and drawn out, and I was just bored for most of the extremely long runtime. It felt like amateur directing with absolutely no style which is one thing I wasn’t expecting from this. Again the acting was really good, especially Pacino and Gaga, but with a cast like this and a director like Ridley, it should’ve been so much better or at least more entertaining if nothing else.
Best South Park we’ve gotten in years. The thing they did with Cartman is one of the best things I’ve ever seen. Really hope they actually conclude this though, they probably could’ve just made it an extra 30-45 minutes and giving us an ending rather than end it on a cliffhanger, but I’m trusting Matt and Trey to do this justice. I’m liking the direction South Park is going after a few really rough seasons in a row.
EARLY SCREENING AT THE CINERAMA DOME

Holy shit, what an incredible experience! I got to see my favorite director introduce his 9th film for me to see a week before release. Hearing Quentin say something along the lines of “you guys are the first public audience to see this on 70 mm” was just so cool. The cinerama dome was decked out with stuff from his other movies, there were posters from all his films,…
Jay : Do they say who's fuckin' playing us in the movie?
Holden : No, but it's Miramax. So I'm sure it'll be Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. They put those guys in a bunch of movies.
Jay : Who?
Holden : You know, those kids from Good Will Hunting?
Jay : You mean that fuckin' movie with Mork from Ork in it?
Holden : Yeah, I wasn't a big fan either... but Affleck was the bomb in "Phantoms".
Jay : Word, bitch, Phantoms like a motherfucker.
