After what seems like a lifetime, I have finally got round to seeing The Godfather: Part II. I watched the first one nearly 2 years ago, and didn't really acknowledge it for the masterwork it was. But now, I think I've finally come to appreciate these two films for the masterpieces that they are.
Everything that needs to be said about this film has, so I'll keep it short, but this film is still so powerful, even 44 years later. This film truly shows the harsh and self-destructive nature of the Gangster lifestyle like no other, and also shows how dangerous power can be, more specifically the lust for power. Coppola is truly one of the kings of cinema, and to think now I never really liked The Godfather films is crazy. Al Pacino and John Cazale are absolute gold in this film. I couldn't take my eyes off them.
This is without a doubt a new favorite for me, and one I look forward to viewing repeatedly in the future. This and the 1st film truly deserve their reputation in cinema history, and will never not be important. Absolute Masterpiece.
