Travis Williams’s review published on Letterboxd:
It's very hard to portray mental illness in film. Many times it can come off hokey and over the top. Scorsese and DiCaprio do a fine job bringing it to the forefront with this ominous, dark psychological mystery.
Beautifully shot, edited and scored. This is common of Scorsese to bring all his expertise to the set and craft an excellent film. For me, it's not one of his strongest efforts, but by no means does that mean it's not a very well made film. The ending wasn't as shocking to me as it has been for some first time viewers. I think it lends itself to repeat viewings because you can catch many subtle hints at what is actually going on. This is a very layered film that will reward the re-watcher.
