Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers

    ★½

Tries to do a lot of different things and it’s just a mess, so far away from the simplicity which made the original film so great.

  • Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers

Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers

    ★★½

What is it with these films having good endings and then retconning it at the start of the next one 😂
Have to say Danielle Harris gives really good performances in both Halloween 4 & 5.

  • Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers

Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers

Done the H20 & H40 timelines, might as well try the sequel timeline now.

Don’t know why but this is the one that I can most clearly remember watching as a youngster. Was probably the only one I had on DVD at the time 🤷‍♂️

The start of this film just ruins how great an ending H20 has, and at the same time that’s the only good bit of the film (kinda fun to watch as an alternate ending scene to H20). I can’t really get on board after that, the idea is decent but it fails to hold my interest. The characters are terrible. Will avoid this film in future.

Fantastic performances especially Paul Walter-Hauser. Really interesting story which I knew nothing about prior to watching this film.

Much better on rewatch, was originally disappointed by it at the cinema in 2018 but enjoyed it a lot this time.

Jodie Comer is phenomenal. It’s very realistic and difficult to watch, I’m sure in years to come we can use this film as a reminder of how terrible this period was.  Unfortunately the last 20 minutes or so gets a bit ridiculous which took me out the film completely.

This film had some really brutal and gory action and fight scenes, but that car chase scene was terrible. MEW is very good in the leading role but for what starts as a simple story, there then becomes a lot of different characters involved and I started to lose interest. The stuff with WH you can see coming from a mile off as well. But overall it’s a decent one time watch.

    ★★★

Kate Beckinsale gives a good performance, basically just beating people up and swearing but that’s all fun with me. The story is very basic, and I really didn’t expect this to be a comedy attempt but once you get used to the style of it, it’s enjoyable enough.

Really cool concept, nice visuals and action scenes. Good cast, Ryan Reynolds is great for this sort of role but Jodie Comer was my favourite character. Overall just good fun.
