I don’t know why but for some reason an Edgar Wright adaptation of Scooby-Doo sounds like it would be an instant classic?

    ★★★★½

Maybe the most dismally enticing part about the world-building throughout ‘Her’, is the way this society is nearly unrecognizable, but mankind at an emotional level has hardly moved an inch. Somehow this culture is capable of building AI that’s (in every practical sense) indistinguishable from humankind, yet still find itself stuck in the same toxic relationship cycles.

    ★★★★

'Gunda' was intoxicatingly shot. Hearty, poignant, and tactful. This flick, necessarily, demands to be seen both contextually and visually. Each sequence of this movie works like a Rube Goldberg machine - taking the most labor-intensive route available to accomplish a goal that nobody is in the dark on. 'Gunda' goes to great lengths to say, "but you knew that already, didn't you?"

It's like every evangelistic Christian's favorite overreaching factoid that "if the earth was, like, 6 inches closer to the sun none of our alchemy would work and we're, like, the only planet with some super-lucky elemental salad that makes life possible - how else could that happen without intelligent design?.. God, bro. God."…

    Her Smell

    ★★★★

Elizabeth Moss in 'Her Smell' is what happens when you go to your friend's house for dinner and it all starts out hunky-dory until their dad comes home with lipstick on his collar and their mom goes ballistic because it's obviously not the first time, but you're already locked-in for the spectacle and when you stand up to leave the mom says "NO, Kyle, you stay right there, I want you both to see how much of a spineless tramp…
