It’s very well directed, keeps you on the edge of your seat and has interesting parallels with Fight Club. However, the major twist doesn’t really succeed and a particular subplot doesn’t pay off with the main storyline. A bit of a mixed bag.
This is a film that could’ve failed hard, like really hard. The complexity and craftsmanship of this thing are absolutely insane and only a filmmaker with a ballsy amount of confidence and skill can make it somehow work. Nolan is without a doubt the perfect person to tackle something of this scale and scope and while it isn’t his best film, he just about pulls it off.
