    "NO! It's just dumb!"

Knives Out 3 should be a crossover with Paddington and explore Benoit Blanc and Paddington trying to solve a case together. That would be the best movie ever made

    Babylon 2022

    Zoë Rose Bryant

Watched by Zoë Rose Bryant 02 Dec 2022 4

Babylon is the most that any movie has ever movie’d. Damien Chazelle’s vibrant vision of 1920s Hollywood completely captures the cacophonous chaos of the era, Margot Robbie turns in a towering powerhouse performance that may be her best yet, and in the dynamite and dashing Diego Calva, a star is born.

    Yes, it’s A Lot™️ - three hours of opulent sensory overload - but there’s a method to Chazelle’s madness that’s mystifying to witness. It’s all fun… until it’s not.…

Got a digital screener link for this the morning after I first saw it in theaters so now I’ve seen it twice in less than 24 hours and I have no regrets whatsoever.

    Cinema, baby.

  • A Man Called Otto

    A Man Called Otto 2022

    Zoë Rose Bryant

Watched by Zoë Rose Bryant 05 Dec 2022 1

A Man Called Otto is an old-fashioned crowdpleaser to its core, but it still mostly worked for me? Sure, the storytelling is a bit simplified, but it balances its humor and heartbreak beautifully, Tom Hanks is a hoot, Mariana Treviño steals EVERY scene (Best Supporting Actress nomination when), and there’s even some shockingly solid trans representation with a supporting character (which feels like a first for a major studio movie?).

Some will still say it’s corny and cliché, but it’s so earnestly charming nonetheless and really won me over by the end. With a heart this huge, it’s hard to go wrong.

Chris Tucker is supposed to be a creep ‘cause we are laughing at his ignorance. Same thing with his racist gags (though we were almost definitely laughing with him in 2001.) It’s gross and bad when Jackie does it! Huge ick. Can’t wait to tell my mom I watched this. It’s a real mom classic. I don’t think I ever realized that was Don Cheadle! Anyways, it’s still Fuck Brett Ratner.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

'Sinister' is one of my favorite horror movies, and among the scariest movies I've ever seen. I love re-watching it and I think it is so expertly crafted and enjoyable all the way through. I haven't seen a lot of Derrickson's other work, but man I was excited to finally check this one out.

    and.....

    I gotta say, I'm a little disappointed.

Look, this movie has a lot going for it. I understand why it has been working so well…

Uh, kind of... fascinating. Like, I think that this is actually a pretty good idea for the conclusion of this reboot trilogy– though it quite literally posits the idea that a reboot is a traumatic generational response made by desperate people who have been pigeonholed into a single lane by an uncaring public– but the execution is just... silly. Very, very silly. Everything about it screams "god, I wish we were making this in the 80s." Every character's personality is…
