Steve McQueen is easily one of the best directors working today and Michael Fassbender is one of the best actors working today. So it’s no surprise that Shame is as good as it is.
The characters feel like real people because of extraordinary performances. Michael Fassbender gives an incredible performance and was unfortunately snubbed at the oscars. Carey Mulligan is also great and deserves a lot of praise as well.
Steve McQueen’s use of long takes was probably my favourite aspect of the film. The cinematography in general was fantastic and the score does a great job setting the mood as well.
I’m even more excited to see Hunger now.
