#52LGBTQFilms 2018 pt. 25.
I know I'm getting old and will eventually be the boringest dad type in the world because this movie has two child protagonists who are, by any sane standard, complete pieces of annoying entitled shit, but regardless I still thought they were so darn cute. As hagsploitation horror goes, Winters doesn't quite go to the places that Bette Davis or Tallulah Bankhead reached. For me, the most appealing part of the movie was its cozy English Christmas-ness combined with some pretty dark subject matter. The intersection of adult fantasy/childhood fantasy/fairy tales/Christmas is intriguing.
