Querelle is possibly Fassbinder's most visually stunning movie. The cinematography and set design are fantastic. This image in particular is going to stay with me for ages.

The acting is bizarre and I found the narrative a little hard to follow at times but overall I liked this. Could go up to four stars after an eventual rewatch.

Not my absolute favourite of the Fassbinder films I've seen so far but very interesting nonetheless. It's so strange, detached and slow-paced ... there's something quite uncomfortable about the atmosphere throughout, parts of it even reminded me of Yorgos Lanthimos movies.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Time for a great big ramble. I have called this 'the most underrated movie of all time' on more than a few occasions. I know that's an incredibly bold statement, and there are many other gems out there that don't get the appreciation they deserve, but I still think this movie has to be right up there in terms of under-appreciated masterpieces. I truly think it deserves to be ranked alongside films like Bergman's Persona and Lynch's own Mulholland Drive

Very thought-provoking stuff. Again, Martin McDonagh does a fantastic job at balancing hilarity and tragedy, quirk and darkness, absurdism and realism ... and he gets superb performances out of the entire cast. This might not be his best film overall, but it's certainly his best-looking film — undeniably beautiful and breathtaking. For that reason, I'm glad I got to see it in a theatre. I had incredibly high expectations and they were mostly met.
