I feel like I’m stunned by the things Eggers can do with composition, atmosphere, mood, lighting, production design but! I also am left cold because he’s very fixated on all these arcane and deeply weird things and just drops you into the weird world without a paddle which is good I guess but idk. It’s so bleak and grim and weird that I’m just admiring it more than I am into it. But Alexander Skaarsgard does look like Ethan Hawke! And we only just noticed it?
