As sharp as a finely dressed man in a spiffy suit and ageless as all. Billy Wilder has caught my attention for a while for films like this and Sunset Boulevard he seems to be highly respected and among the film industry greats. One of the earliest examples of tasteful noir has left a chain of influence to come (RIP film noir movies), but the mid-40’s is the only time this movie could’ve been released, it’s genre at an all time high and dialogue so fluid and clever to make it all suave.
