“The Big Heat” is a top-tier film noir that is as cynical, ruthless, cruel, and violent as a movie could be during the Hays Code era, and it´s gripping, exciting, and well-crafted from beginning to end. It follows a cop who takes on a powerful crime syndicate, first because of his sense of duty as a righteous homicide detective and after the murder of his wife (played by Marlon Brando´s sister Joycelyn Brando) as a personal vendetta.

    The Woman in the Window

Another solid Fritz Lang film noir filled with suspense, anxiety, atmosphere, dark humor, and strong performances by Edward G. Robinson and Joan Bennett. I love the “wrong place, wrong time” scenario and how the plot develops from there, and I even like the controversial ending. Furthermore, Lang´s visual flair is on point again. “Scarlet Street”, which was released a year later and stars the same leading cast, is the superior film noir but “The Woman in the Window” is nonetheless a rewarding watch for every fan of the genre.

“Beau Is Afraid” was one of the most exhilarating cinema experiences I can remember, and my brain was racing for hours after seeing this film. It´s a wild, unconventional, and ambitious beast of a movie that is strange, utterly unpredictable, and challenging but also immensely rewarding. It reminds me of Damien Chazelle´s “Babylon” in the…

This was my first cinema visit since the beginning of March, so for that reason alone, it was a memorable event for me.

“Tenet” itself is Christopher Nolan being more Nolan than ever, for better or worse. You just have to admire his originality, ambition, and desire to push the limits of the medium as well as the uncompromising way with which he executes his vision. “Tenet” is a challenging and cerebral high concept sci fi film with an interesting…
